About Inland Northwest Action Shooters

Fun -- Fast -- Friendly

Inland Northwest Action Shooters (INAS) was created in 2006 to offer shooters in the Spokane / Northern Idaho area an additional opportunity to compete in USPSA affiliated matches.

** ATTENTION SHOOTERS **

Inland Northwest Action Shooters is the area’s newest USPSA Affiliated Club and was not formed to be in competition with other local clubs.  INAS events are scheduled on different dates than the Spokane Practical Pistol League so shooters can participate in both clubs without conflict.  This coordinating schedule was designed for the benefit of all shooters and Inland Nortwest Action Shooters encourages all competitors to support both clubs.

Maybe you're tired of the same old stand-'n'-shoot at the same old targets or perhaps you have exercised your right to own a defensive handgun, acquired a concealed carry license, and are now wondering where and how you can hone your defensive pistolcraft skills, in a sporting, non-intimidating environment.

INAS was created to offer a place for like-minded individuals to compete and develop the skills necessary to confidently use self-defense firearms.  Some members of the shooting community believe USPSA shooting matches have become "equipment races” -- a venue to show off expensive toys which can intimidate new shooters who do not have such equipment. Inland Northwest Action Shooters wishes to provide an environment which is friendly to new shooters and encourages equipment of a more practical nature.

Prior to INAS, there were few opportunities in the area to compete using common practical firearms without an unfair disadvantage.  When you come to an INAS match, you can not only use your regular self-defense equipment, you can be completely competitive with it!  No longer will you feel discouraged by other shooters who have expensive “competition use only” firearms and "hose" through stages.

What is Practical Shooting?

Practical Shooting is a sport involving the use of combat-proven firearms equipment to negotiate simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in INAS events are encouraged (but certainly not required) to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use.

Inland Northewest Action Shooters is fully affiliated with the United States Practical Shooters Association (USPSA). We encourage all shooters to become members of USPSA so scores can be submitted for a classification ranking. Please check out the USPSA homepage.

Although INAS allows all divisions to participate in monthly matches, we strongly prefer and encourage Production, Limited-10, Limited, and Revolver divisions.  In addition, INAS will be the first club in the Inland Northwest Area to officially recognize and encourage the 1911 Single Stack Division.  This new division will not unfairly handicap a shooter who chooses not to invest in expensive extended-length magazines.

USPSA’s recent introduction of the 1911 Single Stack Division and renewed interest in Production Division shows their willingness to acknowledge the growing number of members tired of “equipment races.”

Monthly Matches will be held at the beautiful Spokane Valley Rifle & Pistol Club located in Mica, Washington .  The range is an easy 20 minute drive from downtown Spokane and easily accessible from Interstate 90.

Spokane Valley Rifle & Pistol Club is home to many shooting sports such as Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) with Mica Peak Marshals, Muzzleloading, and Black Powder events.  The rifle range has capacity for over 20 shooters and offers distances to 1000 yards and longer.  Spokane Valley Rifle & Pistol Club is excited to once again host USPSA affiliated shooting matches.

INAS Principles:

I.  Promote the safe and proficient use of practical firearms suitable for self-defense situations.

II.  Provide a level playing field for all competitors to test the skill and ability of each individual, not equipment or gamesmanship.

III. Recognize the accomplishments of top performing shooters by awarding certificates for top shooters in each division.

IV. Provide shooters with practical courses of fire that simulate potentially life-threatening encounters.

V.  Provide an environment that is not exclusive, cliquey, or discriminating.  INAS welcomes shooters from all backgrounds and of all abilities including military and law enforcement operators who wish to use and wear duty equipment.  INAS will strive to provide a non-intimidating competitive shooting environment where shooters help each other out.

VI. Offer a practical shooting sport that allows competitors to concentrate on developing skills and fellowship without having to purchase excessive amounts of competition only equipment.

*** Note ***

Inland Northwest Action Shooters is an affiliate of the Spokane Valley Rifle & Pistol Club (SVR&PC) and is ultimately governed by the officers of that Club and the owner of the property. As a division of SVR&PC, shooters participating in INAS events are allowed use of the private shooting range. Excess net revenue from INAS match fees is controlled by SVR&PC and used to support INAS events and activities. INAS holds no property or assets other than what is owned and operated by SVR&PC.
